Ann E. Hale
.
My strong interest in drawing and painting accompanied my career as a human relations trainer for psychodramatists and director of improvised enactments. Since the early 1980’s I have given more time to the study of art history, developing studio arts, exhibiting and teaching. My artwork is mostly representational with breaks to explore abstract images. I like to choose the medium to fit my chosen treatment of the subject. I work mostly in oil and graphite with occasional ventures into mixed watermedia, collage and soft pastel.
I am most appreciative to the guidance I have received from professional artists, Ernest Johnson, Vera Dickerson, Peyton Klein, Frank Hobbs, Mary Echols, Ann Glover and Alex Powers..
I am a charter member and officer of The Market Gallery and currently the Co-President with Ann Glover (2013).
I have taught drawing at the Studio School in Roanoke, The Beverley Street Studio School in Staunton, VA and the Academy of Arts in Lynchburg, as well as working with private students at my studio in Old Southwest (Roanoke, VA) . While I greatly enjoy long visits to art museums and galleries, the first works of eager art students is a deep, personal pleasure.
I have exhibited regionally as well as internationally, with paintings in private and corporate collections. I live in Roanoke, VA Many of the landscapes I paint reflect the scenic views, pasture, creeks and country roads near Floyd Co., VA.
Ann will be painting on site in the gallery Friday, Feb 1, 2013 from 6:30pm-7:30 as part of Art By Night event called “The Three Anns: Ann Glover, Ann Hale and Anna Wentworth.
