National Day of Presence

Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. Continues “Call to Service” with Support of National Coalition of Black Civic Participation’s Day of Presence in New Orleans.

(Philadelphia, PA) - August 17, 2007 - Dwayne M. Murray, Grand Polemarch (CEO), Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., is continuing his efforts to emphasis a “Call to Service” by encouraging participation in “A National Call to Action - A Day of Presence” During the observance of the second anniversary of Hurricanes Katrina-Rita.

New Orleans Alumni, Gulfport Alumni and Arlington/Grand Prairie Alumni Chapters are leading the charge to gather as much support for the initiative, which will take place in New Orleans Tuesday, August 28th through Wednesday, August 29th. The Grand Polemarch is encouraging as many Brothers and community activists to join these Chapters along with thousands of others as they shine a well-needed spotlight on the steady plight of the hundreds of thousands who are still displaced two-years later.

Tuesday, August 28th - National Day of Service:

Join Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity and Thousands of others for a day of community service by volunteering to clean-up debris and assist in the restoration of a historical African-American landmark, the Mt. Zion AME Church. Announced work shifts will be coordinated by local planning representatives.

Wednesday, August 29th, - National Day of Presence:

7am - 9am National Prayer Breakfast, Lowe Hotel
10am - 2pm: A Presence March from the 9th Ward to Louis Armstrong Plaza
2pm - 5pm: Rally at Spanish Plaza
8pm: Vigil at Jackson Square

The National Leadership of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. along with the leadership of the National Coalition of Black Civic Participation will be joined these two day national radio personality Tom Joyner who will host his program from New Orleans as well as other politicians and community-focused celebrities.
